The Indiependence music and arts festival has confirmed it would return to Mitchelstown next year after first saying they were leaving the town in County Cork.

From July 29 to July 31, the weekend event returns to its usual location at Deer Farm and resumes its position in the bank holiday festival calendar.

The festival first took place at the town’s venues and market square in 2006 before shifting to its current location in 2010. The purchasing power of up to 15,000 guests gave the area’s economy a significant boost.

Brendan Dillon, managing director, said that when it was announced that we wouldn’t be able to return there, “we were disappointed.”

Manic Street Preachers, Public Enemy, and Lewis Capaldi, along with Irish acts like Kodaline, The Coronas, and Therapy, have previously headlined international festivals.

Of course, there are other factors at play as well that have made life challenging for festival organizers and touring bands.

Regarding touring, Mr. Mcneil stated, “Brexit is something I’ve been monitoring very intently over the past 12 months.”

And because it will happen right in the heart of festival season, the application of new restrictions in and outside the UK could be a major problem.

The industry is wobbling significantly even now, so until things have stabilized, it probably requires some sort of scaffolding fund for 2022 and possibly into ’23.

You must keep in mind that many of these companies, like Indie, have suffered significant losses over the past few years; nothing just happened because we went on freeze.

In the upcoming weeks, details about the lineup and tickets for Indiependence 2022 will be released.
